The Secret Castle
By Theresa Victoria Steiner
The Secret Castle relates a tale of twelve queens whose encounter with a special monkey who cannot talk leasd to a potentially unexpected friendship. Using a communication device, the monkey is able to express herself. With determination and help from her new friends, the little monkey experiences events that she never thought possible.
The author having a speech impairment herself and using her own experience, takes into account the way someone with such uniqueness might feel. The story teaches determination and compassion, providing a possible resource for a parent, teacher, or other adult who might wish to introduce a similar idea.
